Summer Programs

Summer School Academy Program Information

ACPS offers a variety of summer learning opportunities to keep students engaged and growing. From academic enrichment to career exploration and hands-on experiences, these programs help students build skills, explore new interests, and stay on track for success.

  • ACPS Families with students currently enrolled in Grades PreK through 4:

    ACPS is planning to operate two Elementary Summer Academies this summer:

    • one at Central Elementary
    • one at Madison Heights Elementary. 

     

    The deadline to register is Friday, May 16, 2025. 

    The main focus of the Summer School Academy program will be learning loss for students who are 1 to 2 years behind in both reading and math in current grades:

    • Prek (rising K), 
    • K (rising 1st), 
    • 1st (rising 2nd), 
    • 2nd (rising 3rd), 
    • 3rd (rising 4th), 
    • 4th (rising 5th).  

     

    Students currently enrolled in Pre-K through 4th grade will use the 2025 Elementary School Summer Academy Registration form.  Students currently in PreK may also receive an invitation from the teacher to register for this opportunity.  Deadline to register is Friday, May 16, 2025.

     

    Please note that current 5th graders will participate in the middle school program and need to use the 2025 Middle School Summer Academy Registration form.   Deadline to register is Friday, May 16, 2025.

     

    Summer School Academy Details:

    • Dates: June 4th - July 3rd, Monday-Friday each week.
      • Thursday, June 19th, will be a Holiday and no summer school
    • Times: Students will participate in remediation and enrichment activities from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm daily

     

    Best Lab Services will be provided during this summer program.

  • ACPS Families with students currently enrolled in Grades 5, 6, & 7:

    ACPS is planning to offer a Summer School Academy for all rising 6th through rising 8th graders for the summer of 2025. Deadline to register is Friday, May 16, 2025.

     

    All middle school programs will be offered at Monelison Middle School ONLY. This location will serve all ACPS students currently enrolled in:

    • Grades 5 (Rising Grade 6) , 
    • Grade 6 (Rising Grade 7), and 
    • Grade 7 (Rising Grade 8), 
    • ONLY current 8th graders who failed both reading and math SOLs.  

     

    Students currently enrolled in grades 5, 6, & 7, and 8th graders who failed both reading and math SOLs will use the 2025 Middle School Summer Academy Registration form.  Deadline to register is Friday, May 16, 2025.

     

    All other current 8th graders (Rising 9), will only be able to attend Summer School Academy if they are taking a high school course for credit.  Please use the ACHS Credit Recovery/New Course Registration Form to sign up.  Deadline to register is Friday, May 16, 2025.

     

    There is NO Bridge Math this summer due to the new Math Pathways in the middle school.  Please contact your school counselor and math teacher for more information.

     

    Summer School Academy Details:

    • Dates: June 4th - July 3rd, Monday-Friday each week.
      • Thursday, June 19th, will be a Holiday and no summer school
    • Times: Students will participate in remediation math and English from 8 am - 12:30 pm daily

  • ACPS Families with students currently enrolled in Grades 8, 9, 10 & 11:

    ACPS is offering the opportunity for students to take ONE course in summer school for high school credit.  All coursework must be completed by July 3.  NO extension will be granted.  

     

    Costs:

    • Credit Recovery (repeat) courses - there will be a $75 charge.
    • New courses - there is a $125 charge.  
    • Students from outside the county- there will be a $175 charge for any course. 
      • Approval from home division must be provided to the site coordinator prior to acceptance. Please be advised, that transportation will NOT be provided for students from other divisions.  
    • Economics and Personal Finance ONLY - EPF course will be offered free of charge.

     

    All high school programs will be offered at Monelison Middle School ONLY. This location will serve students currently enrolled in:

    • Grades 8 (Rising Grade 9), 
    • Grade 9 (Rising Grade 10), 
    • Grade 10 (Rising Grade 11), and 
    • Grade 11 (Rising Grade 12).  

     

    Registration Information & Deadlines:

    • Please use the ACHS Credit Recover & New Course Academy Summer Registration for to register.
    • Registration for NEW courses closes on Friday, May 16, 2025 
    • Registration for CREDIT Recovery (repeat) courses closes on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.  
    • The last day to request transportation for credit recovery is noon on May 28 , 2025.
      • No transportation will be available for students taking EPF.

     

    ACHS Credit Recovery & New Course Summer School Academy Details:

    • Dates: June 4th - July 3rd, Monday-Friday each week.
      • Thursday, June 19th, will be a Holiday and no summer school
    • Times: 8 am - 12:30 pm daily
    • Students are REQUIRED to attend in person until they complete the course.  
    • Economics and Personal Finance (EPF) students ONLY: EPF Students will complete most of their course virtually.  Access to the course will begin during the last week of school, May 27-30, 2025.  If a student is not progressing in their coursework, they will be required to come into the building to complete the coursework. 

     

    Testing Requirements:

    • Students taking Algebra 1, Biology, World Geography, or English 11 and require a SOL test will need to attend SOL prep and take the SOL test during the week of July 28 - August 1 at ACHS.   
    • Students taking Geometry, Earth Science, World History 2, or US/VA History and require a SOL test will receive remediation when we return to school and test at the beginning of September 2025.
    • Economics and Personal Finance (EPF) students ONLY: EPF Students must attend in person at MMS on June 26 & 27 for the W!SE test.  If the student is unsuccessful on the W!SE test, they will retest on July 2 & 3.

     

    Economics and Personal Finance (EPF) details:

    • EPF course will be offered free of charge.  
    • Students will complete most of their course virtually.  Access to the course will begin during the last week of school, May 27-30.  
    • If a student is not progressing in their coursework, they will be required to come into the building to complete the coursework.
