ACPS Chromebook Information

The goal of ACPS’s 1:1 initiative (one Chromebook for every student) is to ensure that all students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 have access to the digital tools and resources to allow them to be successful learners outside of the school day. To reach this goal, we must provide our students with digital devices that can expand their learning opportunities beyond the walls of our schools.

The following information and resource links will provide parents and students with an explanation of how the division will manage its 1:1 initiative. The success of this initiative is strongly tied to the responsibility, ownership, and pride that our students have when they receive their Chromebook. While ACPS believes that technology use is critical to student success and needs to be part of the daily learning process, the ability to have a device at all times is considered a privilege that our students should not take lightly.

Care of Your Chromebook

  • Use a clean dry microfiber cloth.
  • Open the lid, your Chromebook will power on, shut the computer down and leave the lid open. With the dry clean cloth wipe the Chromebook.
  • If that is not enough, and you still have dirt and debris, use a small amount of water (very lightly damp) and wipe the Chromebook.
  • If that is not enough, use a small amount of water with one drop of dish detergent, use a small amount of water (very lightly damp) and wipe the Chromebook.

Disinfection of a Shared Computer

  • For disinfecting laptops and Chromebooks open the lid. If it powers on, shut the computer down and leave the lid open. After the computer shuts down, use one disinfectant wipe to wipe the keyboard, mouse/palm rest and leave damp for at least 4 minutes.
  • The same steps above apply to a desktop computer, disinfect the keyboard and mouse
