The Amherst County School Board is committed to complying with the Privacy Protection Act of 1976, VA. Code Ann. § 2.1-377 et seq. The Amherst County School Division shall not collect unnecessary personal information by means of its website, and shall collect only appropriate personal information to the extent necessary to serve its constituents and the community.
Personal information collected and retained by the school division's website will be maintained in compliance with the Virginia Privacy Protection Act. Any individual wishing to learn the purpose for which information has been recorded and the particulars of its use and dissemination may contact the Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee regarding this information. Any person wishing to correct, erase or amend inaccurate, obsolete or irrelevant information may do so by procedures established by the Superintendent or the designee.
The school division shall inform the public of any personal information collected through its website by posting the following privacy statement or a link to this privacy statement in a conspicuous fashion at the top of the website home page.
"It is the policy of the Amherst County School Division that personal information about citizens will be collected only to the extend necessary to provide the service or benefit desired; that only appropriate information will be collected; that the citizen shall understand the reason the information is collected and be able to examine their personal record which is maintained by a public body.
The website:
collects no personal information. Internet servers to collect communication protocol addresses from the personal computers accessing the website in order to facilitate communication. By itself, this informationdoes not constitute personal information. Does not place a 'cookie'* on your computer, and will not track your movements through the website.
