The Virginia Board of Education will hold public hearings on the Proposed Revised 2023 History and Social Science Standards of Learning. The Standards of Learning identify the
essential content, processes, and skills for grade levels and subject courses. The proposed 2023
History and Social Science Standards of Learning can be accessed on the Virginia Department of Education’s website. Public comment regarding the proposed revised 2023 History and Social
Science Standards of Learning may be offered through public hearings or public comment
through the Virginia Department of Education website until March 21, 2023.

English Standards
Public Comment - The Virginia Board of Education is seeking public comment as part of the review and revision process of the 2017 VDOE English Standards of Learning. An important part of the Standards of Learning review process is to seek input from parents, K12 educators, faculty from institutions of higher education, the employment community, military representatives, professional education organizations, experts in the field, and the general public. The current 2017 English Standards of Learning can be found here. Submit comments using this form or by emailing [email protected]. Comments will be received February 10, 2023 through March 13, 2023.
