The application window for Virtual Learning as an enrolled student of ACPS is now open. Parents and/or Guardians will need to submit this application packet to be approved to attend ACPS as a student receiving 100% of their instruction with Virtual Virginia for the 2021-2022 school year beginning  January 19, 2022. Please read the parent and student agreement within this packet to ensure your ability to comply with all expectations. Submission of an application into the virtual program is not a guarantee of acceptance.

To be considered you student must currently be in good academic standing as of December 10th:


  • Students must have less than 15 absences and no more than one F in a core subject.
  • Students with two or more Fs in any subject will not be approved for full-time virtual learning

Please print and complete the application, being sure to answer all questions. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. If you have more than one student, a separate application should be submitted for each student. Both the parent and student must sign the application and return to: Wanda Smith, Supervisor of Math, Science, Gifted and Elective Programs.

The completed application packet can also be dropped off in the ACPS Instructional Office at the Amherst County School Board Administration Office which is located at 153 Washington Street in Amherst. 



Completed packets are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021. Any student application received after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list and will not be guaranteed acceptance into the virtual program.

Parents will be notified by Monday, December 13th if their child has been accepted.


Virtual Virginia

Virtual Virginia’s (VVA) K–5 Elementary Program offers divisions, schools, and learners the option for high-quality, full-time virtual instruction in the 2021–2022 school year (180 instructional days). Through this program VVA will provide the Virginia-certified teacher of record, access to the VVA learning management system (LMS) with core asynchronous content, and high-quality synchronous instruction. Students will participate in core instructional activities in Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and STEM. Supplemental lessons in Physical Activity and Wellness, will be offered to students enrolled in the Elementary Program.

Virtual Virginia’s 6–12 Secondary Program offers various online courses (including AP but no Honors courses) taught by Virginia-certified teachers for high school and middle school learners (grades 6–12). Recommendations concerning instructional placement of the student are the responsibility of the local school counselor. School counselors should review the course prerequisites listed and make sure students understand the expectations for the online courses selected

Parent Auditor Account enables parents/guardians to access teacher contact information, monitor student login activity, and view course grades, all within the VVA Student Information System (SIS). This is automatically created once your student is enrolled in Virtual VA. 

Accessing your Parent Auditor Account

Once the counselor of record at your local school has created your Parent Auditor Account, you will receive an automated email with your Parent Auditor Account username. If you do not have this username, please contact the counselor of record at your local school.

Follow these steps to retrieve your password and access your new account:

  1. Click the Login button in the main navigation menu of the Virtual Virginia website. (See the top-right of this page.)
  2. Select “Virtual Virginia Program (K–12),” and click Login.
  3. To retrieve your Parent Auditor Account password, click Forgot your login and/or Password? Click here to recover your password.
  4. Enter the email address used to create your Parent Auditor Account and click Submit. An email will be sent to the email address used by the local school to create your Parent Auditor Account.
  5. Remember, your username should have been provided in an automated email after the account was created. If you have not received it, please contact the school counselor of record.
