Kindergarten Registration

Registration days for Amherst County children eligible to enroll in kindergarten in the Amherst County Public Schools for the 2025-2026 school year will be held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025 – 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, April 24, 2025 – 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

 

Children have to be age 5 on or before September 30, 2025, in order to enroll in kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year.

 

Please use the following link to complete the Online ACPS Student Registration and then call your child’s school to schedule an appointment to complete the in-person screening on one of the above dates.

  • All children entering kindergarten must register at the school in the attendance zone in which they reside.
  • To find your attendance zone, visit the ACPS Info Finder website.

Prior to entering school, the following will need to be provided to the school:

  • Proof of Residency (for example: electric, water, or cable bill)
  • Child’s Birth Certificate
  • Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form (MCH 213 G) from your doctor. This form must be completed within the 12 months prior to the first day of school and include the child’s complete immunization record and well-child check (Code of Virginia § 22.1-270).
  • Proof of required immunizations listed below:
    • Four DPT (1 DPT must be after 4th birthday)
    • Four Polio (1 dose must be after 4th birthday)
    • Two MMR (1st dose must be after 1st birthday)
    • Three Hepatitis B
    • Two Varicella (Chicken Pox vaccine) or doctor’s documentation that child has had chicken pox
    • Two or Three Rotavirus
    • Two Hepatitis A
